TEXAS TIMES
With one of the best rotations in the league, the Texas Rangers stand in 3rd place in AL West. If you look at the numbers, though, you can see why. Right now, through the first 89 games of their season, Texas as a team, is hitting is a disgusting .242. During the season Texas brought in HUGE hitters like Miguel Cabrera and Jose Guillen to bulk up the line up but Cabrera is hitting a miniscule .231 with a mere 11 homeruns and 44 rbis. They also added Dan Haren, Mark Prior, Brad Penny and Mark Mulder who have a combined era of 3.42 and a combined record of 30 wins and 23 loses. The poison of the rotation was Phillies ace Brett Myers who has a record of
1-9 with a 7.63 era. The bullpen could be one of the worst in the league. They have a combined era of almost five and compiled a record of 12-10. Injury of pitcher Mark Prior also contributed to the losing streak as he suffered a serious injury in a game against Colorado where he left the field in the 7th inning. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear Bone Chips Elbow. Mark has a record of 5-6 this season, with an ERA of 2.88. In 137.1 Innings he was able to strike out 175 batters. He has 3 complete games and one shutout.
Players aren’t the only ones being moved around in the organization. Rumors around the club house had it that manager Buck Showalter, hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo and scouting director Mark Laseter had a fight on the road in a Colorado bar after showlater got ejected from the game in the 4th inning. Sources are telling people don't be surprised if Jaramillo, and Laseter aren’t around the club house next week.
But through all of this misery there are still a couple of players who are not giving up and giving all they got. Mark Teixeira is hitting .282 and leading the AL in Slugging Pct .585, Home Runs with 24, and RBIS with 76. Also pitcher Brad Penny has 10 wins tied for fifth in the AL is 10th in era 2.91 and in 4th with a whip of 0.96. And Mark Mulder who allows a small 9.83 base runners on per game, has a whip of 1.00, offensive avg. against him is .194 and he leads the league in BABIP (Batting Average on Balls in Play) with .245
Pitcher Brett Myers is 1-9 with a 7.63 era and continues to struggle
